Neerja Bhanot was nothing less than an inspiration. Crisis always gets the better of us. It most of the time numbs our sense of reason and we panic. Paranoia only takes minutes to set in but Neerja Bhanot was an exception. Crisis made her a courageous young lady who risked her life to save the passengers. After all, that’s what they are trained for. But who teaches you to lay your life for the safety of the passengers? None, it comes from within and guess that’s what prompted Neerja to become this braveheart whom we will admire and ape. If the heartwrenching story of her hadn’t already made us weepy, this audio of her last announcement in the cockpit of the fateful Pan Am flight will make you choke.

You can hear her voice announcing the details about the destination of the Pan Flight 73 which was supposed land at Karachi before moving on to Frankfurt and New York. She gives the details of the altitude they would be travelling and how much time it will take to reach Karachi. It’s just another announcement by a pursuer in the flight but it’s not an ordinary voice. It was the voice of a woman who died saving the lives of kids and nearly 359 passengers. We got gooseflesh while listening to this and we are sure this is going to haunt us.
