After Shweta Basu Prasad was detained in an alleged sex racket and reprimanded in a remand home, she was scouting for scripts. According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, the actress has now joined Phantom Productions as a script consultant. Though the actress has acting ambitions, she is keeping the job till she can find a script good enough for her. Speaking about the development in the report, Shweta agreed that she was essentially a curator in Phantom Productions and that she was going through potentially promising scripts. She also asserts that she likes her new job as reading scripts helps her grow as an actor. The actress also squashes reports that claimed she had been signed for a documentary by Hansal Mehta. Shweta Basu Prasad, who was mired in a controversy this year when she was caught in an alleged prostitution racket, has accused the media of wrongly dragging her name into a prostitution case. The starlet was sent to a rescue home for 59 days after a prostitution racket allegedly involving her was busted, reports PTI. On December 5, the Metropolitan Sessions Court, Nampally, Hyderabad, gave Shweta a clean chit in the case by withdrawing charges and stay order against her that was made by a trial court. According to the PTI report, in an open letter posted on her Twitter account, the 23-year-old Makdee star said she was sad with the way things played out in the press. "I understand that everything was a chain of reaction and versions of the incident with several misleading stories were picked up along with my... wait, not my statement... for the rest of India or anyone, anywhere on planet, for the last time: This is not my statement, " she said. Shweta said that she wanted to move ahead in life and forget the whole episode. "I have completely gone past the whole incident and I overlook everyone who picked up false statements and encouraged misleading stories without verifying it's authenticity. I overlook, because this episode does not deserve any more attention, " she said.

The Hyderabad sessions court on Saturday gave a clean chit to actress Shweta Basu Prasad who was arrested in connection with a sex racket. Shweta, who recently got out of a remand home, was visibly relieved. "I can't tell you what a huge relief the verdict is for me and for my family. The court has quashed all the charges against me and it feels great to have been vindicated. For the first time in many months, I'm relieved to see a smile on my parents's face, " said the actress. National Award-winning filmmaker Hansal Mehta went a step ahead and offered the her a role in his upcoming film too. He took to Twitter and wrote, "Stop posting pictures of Shweta. Put out the pictures of her wealthy clients and the pimp. Expose the scumbags not the soft target. I intend to offer Shweta Prasad a role in my next film. She was so good in Makdee." Keeping the promise he had made in the tweet, Hansal offered a role to actor Shweta Basu Prasad in his next documentary, as reported in Hindustan Times. The report quoted Hansal as saying that they spoke over the phone and also met in his office. He also revealed that he offered her a role in his documentary which will be based on Hindustani classical music. However, the filmmaker maintains that he hasn't offered the film to the actress out of pity and asserted in the report that no one should. According to a report in Times of India dated September 13, 2014, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone had commented on the Shweta Basu Prasad case.
