Bollywood-inspired hairstyles you can create at home.
Bollywood has long been a source of beauty inspiration for women worldwide, and it's not difficult to see why - some of the most beautiful actresses have shown us some elaborate and gorgeous hairstyles, both on film and the red carpet. Hairstylist to the stars Asgar Saboo, who has created alluring styles for some of Bollywood's biggest stars, including Aishwarya Rai and Katrina Kaif, shows you how any woman can make these ultra glamourous beauty looks work for her. Whether you choose to add a Bollywood twist to your everyday look with an Indian side braid, or go all out with big fluffy curls or a half bun for the evening, there are plenty of ways to emulate your favourite Indian starlet.
The Half Bun
This is a very common Indian hairstyle that is seen on a lot of Bollywood actresses. It is normally worn with the traditional Indian attire, but it can work well with a casual pair of jeans since it feels effortless and adds glam to any look. Make sure that you have combed out the tangles in your hair before starting, to get the sleek and sophisticated look that Bollywood is famous for.
How to get the look: Grab some of the hair you want to put in the updo, stretch it to the back and then tease it a little bit, so that there is volume. If you want to have a more dramatic look, bring the hair forward a little, to make the pouf a little higher and fix with hairspray. Take several bobby pins, depending on the thickness of your hair and slide them in place. One useful tip to make sure that the bobby pins don't become loosened during your day is to cross one over the other - this is something that many actresses all over the world do ahead of important red carpets. A jewelled bow can be clipped at the back to make it look more intricate, or a flower can make a great summer accessory.
